Society for Mining Metallurgy and Exploration

Michigan Tech's Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration is a group of students that try to promote mining within the university and the community.

Specifically, we try to stress the inter-disciplinary aspects of mining and promote participation in the Mining Minor program. Our members have majors that include: geology, geological engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, business, chemical engineering, and more.

In a typical year, we have two trips to visit mines or material processing facilities, as well as attending the National SME Conference.

Our meetings are open to anyone interested see our calendar for our next meeting time and location). If you'd like more information, please contact us at mtumining@gmail.com.
